Lessons Learned from Hurricane Katrina
How volunteers and community technology centers helped to keep people connected. On a side note: Katrina really showcased blogging and the power of the Internet with VoIP, IM, and collaboration. There was a global collective that made communications and database synchronization easier. There were a number of different databases for evacuees to check, but with outside help, a meta-search was created, making it easier.
That's how you sell technology: not on whiz-bang, but on What You can do with it. No one cares how the car works, just that it can get from A to B.
