Here is an interesting write up about JAB Wireless, who has almost 70 acquisitions under their belt. JAB Wireless has spent $77M on sixty-seven acquisitions since it was founded in 2006.
The newest one was to buy the assets of Keyon Communications. Keyon was awarded a $10M ARRA grant.
Keyon bought Tampa-based CommX, Broadsoft's second customer ever, last year. Rumor is that PressOne and VoipLogic bought the CommX pieces from JAB. My guess is that VoipLogic got the wholesale customers and PressOne got the retail. At one time, PressOne was going to merge with CommX. That deal fell through. The deal with CommX and Keyon resulted in lawsuits. CommPartners was sold off this way after bankruptcy too. VoIP companies. Hoo-boy.
