VZ posted losses this quarter (2Q 2010), mainly due to letting 11,000 workers go and making some payments to pension plans.
Most of its cellular adds came from wholesalers like Tracfone and Walmart.
FiOS TV market penetration now stands at 2%.(I think that is market-wide penetration.) FiOS-related ARPU increased $3 over the first quarter to $145 per month. OUCH!
FiOS Internet penetration (customers as a percentage of potential customers) was 29.7% by the end of the quarter, with the product available for sale to 12.9 million premises. This compares with 28.1 percent and 11.0 million, respectively, at the end of second-quarter 2009.
FiOS TV penetration was 25.9% by the end of the quarter, with the product available for sale to 12.4 million premises. This compares with 24.6 percent and 10.3 million, respectively, at the end of second-quarter 2009.
Cable is winning.

Peter,
LightReading had some interesting commentary on this: http://www.lightreading.com/document.asp?doc_id=194808
Basically the job losses will continue for the next two quarters as well as a lot of other cost savings (real estate sales, etc...); the increase in FiOS is offset by loss of revenues from other offerings.
