Louisiana PSC won't oppose at&t-BST merger

In a "surprising" move, "Despite opposition from some municipal leaders, the PSC took the action Wednesday on a 4-1 vote, making Louisiana the fourth of the nine states in which BellSouth operates to sign off on the merger. PSC Chairman Jimmy Field said competition in cities that have operated under merged companies offer more and cheaper services to consumers." After all the grief BST gave LUS over the muni-fiber project and all the additional ugliness in New Orleans, the state regulators say okay. You have to wonder what ever happened to government officials representing the masses.
