BellSouth's Policy Agenda

1. Remove economic regulation on the retail business -- Create a Consumer Controlled Marketplace 2. IP/Broadband Relief -- Broadband and IP services should be free from economic regulation both at the federal and state level. 3. Platform/Technology Neutrality - Legacy economic regulation of copper facilities should not apply when networks containing copper are upgraded to provide IP services. 4. Universal Service -- Changes must be made in the universal service support system if it is going to fulfill its purpose in the rapidly changing telecommunications environment. [please note] BST already won a sub-part of #3: E-911 and Other Key Law Enforcement/Public Safety Tools [please note] BST has already won #1 in KY, TN, AL & SC - with bills in NC, FL, GA & MS waiting to pass.
