Selling to Niches

Three lessons learned from Tampa Skate Park by TBBO, a local group for small business mentoring.
  1. Know Your Niche...and Give Them Exactly What They Want.
  2. Speak to Your Niche in the Language they Understand.
  3. Find People to Work in Your Business Who Share Your Passion.
You can take this to Cloud. By that I mean, Cloud is a lot of things to a lot of people. It is a garbage can term. What it means to your business is really up to you and your customer base.

  • What do your customers need from Cloud?
  • What are you able to sell?
  • What are you able to deliver?
  • What can you partner to offer?

I always talk about selling to niches. Why?

  • you build a tribe; 
  • it is more valuable;
  • you learn the language; 
  • word-of-mouth and referrals increase;
  • specialization usually means more margin;
  • it pays to be an expert;
  • there is a lot to be said about the Long Tail.
