Keeping Your Talent

A couple of article from Forbes about keeping your employees (Talent) from leaving.

In Why You Will Quit Your Job This Year the main reason is boredom or no career path. A lesson from this article is about rewarding employees. "The famed psychologist B.F. Skinner proved that being rewarded at random intervals (rather than on a fixed schedule) is a highly effective way to reinforce behavior. ... by giving us little random rewards (a boss’ praise, a new plum client, an exciting new project, etc.)"

Salespeople are motivated by more than Money, by the way. They crave recognition. Also, many are goal driven. Make sure you offer recognition and understand what his goals are.

In the second article, employees typically leave because of poor managers (and poor direction).

Mary Ash: "A company is only as good as the people it keeps."
