at&t starts paying hard ball already. Sprint has filed a complaint over the new notice from at&t mobility (formerly Cingular, formerly at&t wireless). Under the new billing, instead of connecting directly to Cingular, all new traffic will have to traverse an ILEC tandem, which means billing changes significantly.
The policy states that any new interconnections between Sprint Nextel and AT&T Mobility, formerly Cingular, will now have to be connected through AT&T's ILEC tandem. Under the new terms, Sprint Nextel will now have to pay transit fees to send its wireless traffic to Cingular subscribers. [source]
The FCC needs to grow some brass ones and tackle the inter-carrier compensation rule soon. It has only been working on it since 1999. (The same with USF overhaul. What do they do over there all day besides worry about F*** and S**t on TV?)
