A surprise booth at the Channel Partner show is TalkPlus. (Andy writes about them often).

TalkPlus provides additional lines and advanced telephony services to mobile users. Subscribers benefit from increased flexibility, privacy and control over their mobile experiences. Affiliates partners gain additional revenue streams from their user base, while mobile carrier partners can offer enhanced mobile services to their customers without extensive infrastructure updates.

It's one way for mobile providers to differentiate themselves in the marketplace. (Not there's an idea :)
