Embarq Wants Rate Hike in Florida

The News-Press in Fort Myers, FL, is following Embarq as it seeks a rate hike. The FL PSC held a public hearing yesterday in Ft. Myers to get public opinion about a proposed rate hike: "Embarq is seeking to recover 50 cents per customer line per month for 2005 storm damage. If approved, the surcharge would appear on customers’ bills for one year beginning in April 2007." ----> See competition is thriving. That's why rates are going up. Thanks to the Florida State Legislation that deregulated the phone companies last year (as did most state governments. What part of govern do they not understand? It's not about going to the capitol to get rich and help your friends; it is about statesmanship. )
