Citizens-Frontier-Commonwealth

"Citizens Communications Co., a 100-year-old ILEC based in Stamford, Conn., said on Monday it will buy Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises Inc. for $1.16 billion. Citizens and Commonwealth will form the seventh-largest local telephone exchange company in the United States. When the deal closes, Citizens will own approximately 2.6 million access lines, 388,000 high-speed Internet subscribers and have 6,600 employees." Citizens Comm. is better known for its brand name: Frontier. Citizens Communications recently sold Electric Lightwave, LLC to Integra Telecom Holdings. Citizens invested $1M in Juice Wireless's JuiceCaster.
