NEW Paetec / USLEC

Again another merger with no focus. USLEC will sell anything to anyone - and yet with its acclaimed 1% churn rate has never broken 28,000 customers. In the last 2 or 3 years, it has gained 3000 customers via the MegaPOP purchase, the VOIP offerings, and the MDU triple-play package. But then this varying array of products can spell disaster. No real focus. Too many targets. "Paetec, with more than 17,000 business customers across the United States, markets telecommunications and Internet services, enterprise communications management software, security and managed services." PaeTec isn't much better. Plus, while PaeTec claims to only want larger clients, they have dropped their pants numerous times to win a single T1 deal. And their Wholesale Manager in Florida reminds me of a bait-and-switch used car salesman.
