Penn PUC holding up Sprint, AT&T

Pennsylvania PUC wants a letter from Sprint Nextel explaining its job cuts in the state, before approving the spinoff of Embarq. "But Pennsylvania PUC Chairman Wendell Holland called for details on potential job cuts on the same day he directed commission staff to investigate job cuts at acquisition-hungry AT&T Inc. in the state. AT&T is cutting 36,000 jobs nationwide in the wake of its combination with SBC Communications Inc. and acquisition of BellSouth Corp."
