Forbes says: "The Atlanta-based company said it earned $784 million, or 43 cents a share, for the three months ending March 31, compared with a profit of $1.06 billion, or 58 cents a share, for the same period a year ago." ..."As of March 31, the company said it had 19.8 million access lines, down 238,000 compared with Dec. 31. It said residential access line loss continues to be primarily driven by wireless substitution and, to a lesser extent, by competition from cable telephone providers."
