BST combining cell & wi-fi
"BellSouth Corp. and Cingular Wireless LLC are developing a system that would allow special phones to combine the uses of cell phones and landlines. The phones would operate both on WiFi (wireless fidelity) networks in a business or home as well as in the existing cellular network outside the WiFi area. The feature could mean significantly smaller cell phone bills: Nearly 40 percent of all cell phone calls made are made inside, where they could be handled by a WiFi network, said Neale Hightower, BellSouth's exploratory development executive director."
