Sales of Packet8's broadband videophone service reveal that the
sophisticated device has a surprisingly down-to-earth market. According to
Packet8's Director of Communications, Joan Citelli, the largest group of
subscribers to the service are grandparents who want to see out-of-town
grandchildren. "It's truly the next best thing to being there," Citelli
says. Packet8's VideoPhone for Broadband sells for $250 and the monthly
service is $29.95 for unlimited US and Canadian calls. D-Link also sells
videophones.
