Mergers & the FCC

Let's see: we can re-create AT&T only bigger despite the fact that the Judge's order of 1984 to break it up still stands as law. Yeah. That's fine. But if DISH and DirecTV want to merge, nope. In 2002, that merger was nixed. Now Harry Potter at the FCC is telling everyone that he would not approve of such a merger today. "It would hamper competition." IN related news, CompTel has filed against the SBC-AT&T merger and the VZ-MCI merger, citing that "“The ALLTEL/Midwest Wireless merger was handled in a completely different manner than the SBC/AT&T merger and the Verizon/MCI merger,” COMPTEL said in its Thursday motion."
