SalesForce.com Story
Web CRM, Biz Intelligience Systems, and MS Office Integration....
A Ventana Research study points to how SalesForce.com is proving the model of Software as a Service (SaaS) or On-Demand Web Apps (or ASP model) can work. The study summary: "Organizations are replacing spreadsheet and presentation file-based reporting with web-delivered reports and dashboards. Yet, desktop authoring applications such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are still the most well known software tools for business decision makers and influencers. Efficient integration of centralized business intelligence systems with Microsoft Office desktop applications is a key issue for IT and business organizations today."
Jeffrey Gitomer, sales trainer, states that SalesForce.com started targeting SMB as a Goldmine or ACT! replacement. Now they are moving upmarket to MLE (medium-large-enterprise). Gitomer suggests that Dovarri.com will take its place as a web CRM and sales tool. I see this as an opportunity for ISPs to move to the SaaS or App On-Demand market. As Microsoft products get more complex and more integrated with the web, security and maintenance will require skilled people that SMB may ot have. Just my 25 cents.
