Everyone's Offering VOIP
Zoom ATA's come with a VOIP plan. Netgear, D-Link and Linksys have partnered with VOIP players like AT&T CallVantage, Vonage and Packet8. Amazon.com and big-box retailers (like Wal-Mart, Circuit City and Best Buy) sell CPE (as in SIP Phones and ATAs) as well as VOIP kits from the VON 3. Now Belkin is offering CallEverywhere. Belkin has a softphone version with free calls to other Belkin users and free voicemail. AOL Internet Phone Service. TW, Cox, and Comcast have digital voice service. Verizon has Voicewing. Lingo et al. SKYPE. FWD. And with seamless GSM and Wi-Fi just around the corner. ..... It's an ugly market - and profit will be elusive. Only way to compare is price and features - but most are selling strictly on price or in bundles. Look for this market to get even uglier soon. Niche and target marketing will be the only savior for smaller voip players.
