You Aren't Selling Hamburgers

Saw this sign in a Tampa McDonald's. Think about it.
You aren't in the Internet business either. Or broadband or VoIP.
Are people buying broadband or access to the cloud, social media, blogs, etc? Are they buying VoIP or a way to communicate and collaborate with employees, customers and vendors?
The new viewpoint skews how you market, what you sell and how you think about your company. (See the last post too.)

Ever wonder why the ILECs are entertainment companies now? No one cares about the phone anymore.

"FiOS Quantum gives customers customized entertainment by providing more access to favorite shows, multi-show recording and more HD storage." [VZ] Even that is too techie for some consumers.
