911 TRS Rules for VoIP

The FCC is reminding VoIP Providers that there are rules for TRS and 911 that must be followed. [see full text here] "In 2008, the FCC issued rules governing 911 emergency call handling requirements for providers of certain Internet-based forms of Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS)." In other words, for certain hearing and speech impaired customers there must be a way to relay an emergency call -- and call information like ANI - to 911. Like everything else about the PSTN, even TRS is going IP-enabled.
