FCC Telephone Competition Report

In June 2009, 133M traditional switched access lines in service and 23M interconnected VoIP subscriptions in service in the US for a Total of 157M wireline retail local telephone service.
  • 93M = Resi
  • 64M = Biz
  • 47% = Resi switched
  • 38% = Biz switched
  • 13% = Resi VoIP
  • 2% = Biz VOIP.
  • Interconnected VoIP subscriptions increased by 10% during the first six months of 2009 (from 21 million to 23 million subscriptions)
  • Switched access lines decreased by 5% (from 141 million to 133 million lines).
  • 44% = Resi ILEC lines
  • 28% = Biz ILEC lines
  • 16% = non-ILEC Resi
  • 12% = non-ILEC business service.
