I just finished the conference merry-go-round (CompTel, Channel Partners, 1-on-1, and ISPCON). I can tell you that many companies wasted good money. WHy? Because the people there couldn't tell you in 10 second or less what is it they offer/sell/provide. And I don't mean in marketing mumbo-jumbo either. At CompTel, one VP of Marketing and his Director of Sales could not tell me what they actually sold. And I myself have not always clearly defined what I do to my audience. A Laser Introduction is very important. And if you are a WISP, it shouldn't be about the technology. It should be something like I provide reliable, dependable, safe access to the Internet. Or we offer people the fast and safe web.
